PostNatal Yoga Workshop
Date: tbc
Time: 1.30-3.30pm Cost: £20 ppCalling all new mothers! Come and enjoy 2 hours of relaxation and recovery!
It is difficult for new mother’s to attend a weekly Post-Natal class. Therefore, Tracy Macfarlane will be offering a Saturday Post-Natal class periodically throughout the year, so that students can practise yoga in their own time when they feel ready - handouts will be given at the end of each session. Classes are “mum only” as it is important for mum to take time out for herself. Even if it’s been months since birth - THAT’S OK! It takes time for mother’s to feel ready to approach an exercise practise. The class focus will be on opening up the shoulders, strengthening the pelvic floor and back muscles, and regaining core strength, in a gentle way, after birth. And most importantly, mum will feel refreshed, stronger, and more comfortable in her body. What to Bring: Yoga Mat if you have one (there are some at the studio), wear loose comfortable clothing, and try not to come on a full stomach (though not completely empty either). Complimentary Herbal Tea and Water will be available.
LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of SUN SALUTES – PART 1 Date: tbc Time: tbc Cost: £30pp Don’t know where to start with a home yoga practise? Try working with sun salutations; they include a series of postures performed in one, graceful flow, which help to build strength and increase flexibility. There are a variety of sun salute routines available, and many different variations of each. Therefore, in this workshop we will investigate the most popular of sun salutes from the Sivananda tradition, learning different options that will suit different levels of fitness. This will allow you to work towards building your own strength and flexibility at your own pace. Additionally, we will further explore another 2 styles of sun salutes, discuss their origins, and the benefits each one provides: Chandra Namaskara (the Moon Salutation) and the Heart Chakra Sun Salutation. Handouts will be given for you to take home. There will also be a short break with tea and biscuits on offer.
