Corryne MacLean teaches Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. It is also known as the Yoga of Awareness. About Kundalini Yoga It consists of simple yogic techniques that can be enjoyed by everyone, whatever their age or physical ability. It is a complete science that includes breath (pranayam), yoga postures (asanas), sound, chanting (mantra) and meditation. Above all, Kundalini Yoga provides you with an experience of your highest consciousness through the raising of your Kundalini. It gives you the vitality and health that is your birthright and it makes you radiant, peaceful and strong so you are better able to meet life’s many challenges. All kinds of people come to Kundalini Yoga classes. It is definitely not about being competitive or trying to prove how flexible you are. In fact, it has been said that if you can breathe and you lean in the right direction, you will receive some benefit! A typical class consists of a kriya (a set of exercises, often done to music, in a specific order and for a specific benefit), followed by a deep relaxation and a meditation. In Kundalini Yoga, meditation is not considered separate from asana or yoga; it is integral to the practice. The exercises bring the body and mind to a state where deep meditation is easily achieved. And the fundamental objective is to awaken the power of the individual to excel — to experience your own Infinity and fulfil your personal destiny. Interested in trying Kundalini Yoga?
