YogaBasics

Each YogaBasics class is a gentle, restorative and calming experience. YogaBasics can help you feel more relaxed, help you cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life and help you develop strength and fitness in a very safe way. Don’t think that you're not fit or supple enough, it really doesn’t matter if you feel stiff and inflexible or can’t touch your toes. There are no age or gender barriers with yoga, either.

No experience in yoga is required, as our YogaBasic classes are suitable for beginners. They are also great for anyone returning to their yoga practice after some time away from their mat, perhaps through injury or family commitments. Joining a YogaBasics class is a great way of giving yourself a bit more time to do something that is good for you. Each session will take you through a gentle yoga practice ~ a mixture of stretching, breathing techniques and relaxation. Lead by Gillian, you’ll be helped to get the best out of the time available and will feel relaxed and refreshed at the end of each class.

Yoga For Runners

The Yoga for Runners classes are aimed at developing stamina and endurance and to help stay injury-free, all of which are important factors in improving performance. The classes are suitable for anyone with an interest in running, no previous yoga experience is necessary and you don't have to have broken any race records or to have run a marathon to benefit from it!

The classes are structured differently each week, sometimes focusing on particular areas of the body, always determined by what the participants want and need, and with particular emphasis on building strength and stamina and giving you a good stretch and focussing your mind. You are encouraged to practice yoga safely, for your benefit, not anyone else's.

RelaxingYoga

A blend of asana (postures and stretching), pranayama (breathwork) and relaxation. This class suits all, especially those who are looking for a wind-down at the end of the day.

About Gillian
www.lochsideyoga.com

Gillian trained with Brenda Louw's ChillOut Yoga Teacher Training (CYTT) and her teaching style reflects her integrative approach to her yoga practice. It incorporates postures (asana) breathwork (pranayama) and relaxation (nidra)techniques from differing aspects of Hatha yoga. Her easy manner makes her classes fun and enjoyable. She started yoga 10 years ago to aid her recovery after an accident and it has been an important part of her life ever since. After several years of mid-distance running, she completed her first marathon in 2009 to celebrate a birthday ending in '0', and this year has completed a long distance cycle and a couple of half marathons. Her Yoga for Runners course is aimed at developing stamina and endurance and to help stay injury-free, all of which are important factors in improving performance. She also takes a Relaxing Yoga class at a more gentle pace aimed at creating a feeling of wellbeing and calm with techniques that you can use in your everyday life. Both classes are suitable for anyone, no previous yoga experience is necessary and you don't have to have broken any race records or to have run a marathon to reap the benefits of either class! Gillian is a member of the Independent Yoga Network and The Register of Exercise Professionals.
